CHUCK ADAMS - BOW HUNTING MISADVENTURES

Chuck Adams is the world’s best-known and most widely published bowhunter. During the past 30 years, Chuck has written 4,700 magazine articles and 10 full-length books. In addition to speaking at dozens of America’s largest sporting events he appears 50 to 60 times each year on ESPN, WGN, TNN and the Outdoor Channel, and stars on ESPN’s “Whitetail Country” and “Advantage Adventures” television shows.

In 1990, Chuck became the first archer in history to harvest all 27 varieties of North American big game-a feat called the Super Slam. Chuck has bagged more than twice as many official Pope and Young record book trophies as any other hunter in history-128 at last count. Chuck has held archery World Records in Sitka Blacktail, Coues Whitetail, Mountain Caribou, American Bison, and Yellowstone Elk categories…more P & Y World Records than anyone else. Chuck has 9 bow-bagged animals registered with the Boone and Crockett Club, and 189 archery animals in Safari Club International’s bowhunting record book-more entries with each club than held by any other archer. Chuck is the only bowhunter to complete five Grand Slams on American deer. He has taken 58 Pope and Young record-book deer, more than anyone else.

Chuck Adams is a Senior Member of the Pope and Young Club, Professional Member of the Boone and Crockett Club, Life Member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and member of Safari Club International. At age 54, he is the youngest person ever inducted into Safari Club International’s Bowhunting Hall of Honor and The National Bowhunters Hall of Fame. Fewer than half a dozen archers share this double honor, including the late Fred Bear. See seminar schedule.

BRANDON BUTLER - YOUTH HUNTING

Over the years, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources has made numerous positive changes to youth hunting in the State of Indiana. Brandon Butler has put together a seminar regarding youth hunting in Indiana which will cover the topics of: hunter education, youth licenses, youth hunting seasons, free youth hunting weekends, how to involve a youth in hunting, and gear for youth hunters. Following the seminar, Mr. Butler will host a question and answer session in order to ensure you leave the show understanding Indiana youth hunting opportunities. If you have any questions regarding how to involve a youth in hunting, this is a seminar you need to attend.

Brandon Butler is a professional outdoor communicator who lives in Bloomington, Indiana with his wife Melissa and their two daughters, Bailee and Annabel. He is a member of The Outdoor Writers Association of America and the Hoosier Outdoors Writers. Brandon writes a weekly outdoor column for the Bloomington Herald-Times, the Martinsville Reporter-Times, and the Bedford Times-Mail. He is a Pro-Staff member of Raghorn Adventures, and writes a monthly column for their publication; Indiana Outdoor News. Brandon has been published in numerous other magazines including: Traditional Bowhunter Magazine, Eastman’s Bowhunting Journal, and Tri-State Outdoors. Brandon was born and raised in Indiana, and is a Purdue Graduate. He has also lived in Colorado and Montana. See seminar schedule.

JOHN CARROLL - DEER HUNTING

John Carroll, lifelong Hoosier and serious outdoorsman boasts 40 years of hunting experience in the woods and fields of Central and Southern Indiana. A family man, John resides in his hometown of Alexandria, where for the past 15 years he and his wife Deanie have owned and operated Carroll's Archery. There you can find John fixing bows, trying the latest hunting equipment and practicing his shot in the indoor shooting range.

Each spring, John is an instructor at Anderson University. Teaching archery as a part of the athletic program, John brings a sport rich in tradition to the next generation. For John, deer and turkey hunting began as a sport but quickly turned to a lifelong passion. Growing up with both a bow and gun in hand, John uses his lifelong experience, stories and expertise to instruct other hunters on safety, technique and equipment. See seminar schedule.

BILL HESSELGRAVE - WILD GAME PROCESSING

Bill Hesselgrave is a journeyman meat cutter. He started cutting meat in 1960 and started processing wild game for hunters in 1965. Bill is an avid sportsman and fisherman. He owns a video company called Hess Video Productions. He currently has three “how to” instructional videos available.

“Care and Processing of Venison, 2nd Edition” is a 89 minute video that shows hunters how to field dress, clean, skin and process the game they harvest so they will always have good tasting meat. This video shows you how to use the weight of the carcass to do most of the work for you and how to use the natural separations of the meat to bone and the different muscle groups to your advantage, The only tools you need are sharp knives. This video does also address concerns of Chronic Wasting Disease.

“Filleting Fish the Easy Way” is a 28 minute video showing you how to get full and totally boneless fillets out of the fish you catch. Bill also shows you how to remove the “Y” bones out of Northern Pike and Lake Trout.

“Getting The Razor Edge” is a 38 minute video that shows you how to select quality knives and how to sharpen them so you have a razor edge on them. A quality knife that holds a razor edge to do the work for you is priceless and a lot safer to use than a dull knife.

Bill’s seminars on processing wild game are informative and entertaining. Bill will show you how to “fillet” a deer and use the techniques you learn from his DVD on wild game processing. These techniques can be used on all the wild game you harvest. Be sure to stop by his booth at the show or attend his entertaining seminar. See seminar schedule.

CHARLES PETTY - CALLING DUCKS

Over the years, Charles Petty, a Georgia native, has won just about everything there is to win in the world of competitive calling, except the finals in Stuttgart. He is now also involved in a northeastern Arkansas waterfowl guiding operation. At age 51, Petty is the voice of experience.

"People should not be intimidated when they are learning how to blow a duck call, because they are not going to learn, not going to get better, if they don't get that call out and practice," Petty says. "One of the most important things is getting a call capable of making the right sounds. If you don't have a good call, you are going to have a lot of difficulty."

"Get a call that you feel good about, that you can have confidence in," Petty adds. "Different people like different kinds of calls. But, the more you practice with that call, and the more time you put into it, the better off you are going to be. And that goes for people who are just starting out, and those who have been calling for years." See seminar schedule.
